Most of us like Egg Nog but what we drink is not the best for our fur kids. Here is a simple recipe that is dog friendly and your pet will love. In addition to being a tasty treat, our recipe uses ingredients that have many health benefits.
Raw goat’s milk has tons of health benefits for both dogs and cats. First, it can promote both oral and gut health because it contains over 200 species of good bacteria, also known as probiotics. In addition, goat’s milk contains conjugated linoleic acid which fights cancer; enzymes; caprylic acid which fights yeast and Glutathione an antioxidant. Raw goat’s milk also has anti-inflammatory properties and is a natural antihistamine. Adding this to your dog’s diet can help with arthritis, pancreatitis, allergies, cancer, vomiting, diarrhea, arthritis, IBS/IBD, diabetes and hypertension. The immune system, kidneys, liver and respiratory system can all benefit for a little goat’s milk.
In addition to relieving both diarrhea and constipation, pumpkin contains several vitamins. Vitamin A which is good for vision. Vitamin C which supports the immune system and joint health and beta carotene which slows the aging process. It is also a source of Zinc which is good for skin and coat
Honey contains flavonoids and antioxidants. Use local honey if possible as it is can lessen allergies. Honey also has antibacterial properties that can aid dogs with GI problems
Coconut oil is a great addition to your dog’s diet. It is high is saturated fat and medium chain triglycerides. It can sooth digestive issues, increase energy, improve skin and coat, reduce allergies and increase cognitive function.
1 cup Goat Milk
½ cup Pumpkin Puree (do not use pumpkin pie filling, plain pumpkin only)
1 TBS Honey (optional)
1 TBS Coconut Oil (optional)
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. You can sprinkle cinnamon on top and serve. Refrigerate any leftovers.
Although it may be tempting to sprinkle nutmeg on top, don’t. Nutmeg can cause seizures in dogs.
